Understanding the complexities of human cooperation across disciplines
necessitates not only visual representations to help clump
abstractions, but multiple representations; the first maps we create
are not intended as end-points, but as the starting place and shared
thinking object for interdisciplinary groups. Next, we seek to create
an easy interface and tools for users to roll their own
representations. The knowledge commons grows with the addition of
pointers to source documents in multiple media, summaries and
discussions of source documents, learning paths and connective
narratives, and visual representations of the information in the
commons.
