I still have many opportunities to destroy it. Next, I cut the lid off, then cut a mortise into the box in a way that makes the lid fit tightly. Then -- and this is where I often have trouble -- I need to hollow out the box. Once that is done, I fit the lid on, and because I remove about 1/2 inch when I cut the tenon on the lid and cut the lid off, I fit the lid on, crank up the pressure on the box so the lid stays on when I turn it, and return it so the egg shape works again. Then to sand it, using 80, 100 22, 300, 400, 600 grit sandpaper, and to finish it, probably with a wax/laquer mix on the outside and a food safe oil on the inside. If I get that far!
