Pan and Kokopelli

Pan and Kokopelli playing the universe to each other. Kokopelli has been part of my visual vocabulary for a while and I only recently realized how similar Pan is. Twenty years ago, I had a well-paying consulting gig in Finland, so i bought a sauna kit and had the sauna installed in my garden. Along with it came a wooden deck where a concrete slab had been. It's a "How Buildings Learn" exemplar. It's where I sit and paint: my happy place. The Green Man has been part of my vocabulary for a while, too. I didn't sculpt this one, which has been there for at least a decade, but did paint it. Both required  bandsaw work -- one of the most intensive forms of concentration meditation I know - and Dremel work to carve out the interior negative spaces. Dremel also requires intense attention -- a sharp blade rotating at 20,000 RPM demands it.
