BioMOO
http://bioinformatics.weizmann.ac.il/BioMOO/ Biologists have a great networking resource and virtual meeting place at BioMOO, a professional MOO connected to the Globewide Network Academy's Virtual School of Natural Science. Truly a global community, members of the BioMOO come from Italy, Israel, Canada, the U.S., and Mexico. Biology researchers can join forums with guest lecturers from various universities on topics ranging from "Ethics in Biocomputing" to "Database Searches in Looking for Evolutionary Relationships among Proteins." Seminars complete with assignments and homework sessions are also offered, or biologists can also join some of the special interest groups like the Neuroscience Journal Club. These wired biologists not only share information via the Internet, but they're also keyed into available biology resources on-line, like DNA sequence databases, and other ways of applying new media to biology research, such as VRML data visualization. - T.H. subject matter: science regional affiliation: global format: text-based multi-user environment language: English cost: no cost
