LambdaMOO is a big (okay, huge), social place with something always going on. One of the better known MOOs, it typically has at least 100 players connected at a time, so there's never a problem meeting new people or finding someone to chat with. In addition, real life gatherings give LambdaMOOers a chance to meet each other face to face. Lambda's lighthearted tone belies its complex six-year history in which its constituents have wrestled with some interesting social issues, including making LambdaMOO a viable democracy and dealing with social transgression. The volume of players and sheer size of Lambda can at times be hard on your net connection (Lambda's known as "lagda" in the MOO world), but Lambda will always hold a special place in the hearts of many seasoned MOOers who have had their early MOO experiences there. - T.H.
