Rewired starts off looking like a spoof on the Hotwired site but quickly comes into its own. The site features weekly (until recently daily) columns on subjects ranging from cyberlibertarianism to television about the net. This becomes grist for the mill in the message area frequented by a loyal band of readers. Most of the regular posters seem to know each other from various forums. Because of this, it seems like something of a progressive dinner or perhaps an online bar-hopping experience. At this stop along the way, the discussion is lively, contentious and impassioned. Participants are particularly interested in new media, the net and traditional media coverage of the net. While there isn't a lot of traffic on the message area yet, interesting discussion and a welcoming host go a long way to make up for it, and no doubt the area will continue to grow because of it. - E.L.
