World Wide Web Artists Consortium
http://www.wwwac.org/ Got something to say about the state of the Web? So do the 1,400-odd participants of the World Wide Web Artists Consortium (WWWAC) mailing list. Active mailing list participants work in all areas of new media, and have definite opinions about technology and its implications. Most days, the flying opinions lead to top-notch discussion, but sometimes intense flame wars erupt. Whatever the case, the ongoing dialogue allows for list subscribers to keep up with technology developments in a way that most solo individuals cannot. List volume ranges between 15 to 35 messages a day, but subscribers can elect to read messages in digest form. WWWAC members meets in New York City on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month. In addition to general meetings (involving group discussion of Web and new media news and a speaker or technology demo), a variety of special interest groups (SIGs) cater to those interested in specific areas of new media, from interface anddesign to business to net law. - M.W.S. subject matter: the net, digital art regional affiliation: New York, global format: mailing list language: English cost: no cost |
